WHAT IS CHI ALPHA?
We're not a fraternity or sorority, but we are a family on mission, experiencing our Creator and sharing the power and love of Jesus on our campus.
WHAT DOES OUR NAME MEAN?
Our name comes from 2 Corinthians 5:20, “So we are Christ’s ambassadors; God is making his appeal through us. We speak for Christ when we plead, ‘Come back to God!'” It is our mission to be Jesus’ representatives on campus, in our future careers, and around the world. Whether you have been following Jesus your whole life or you are investigating Christianity, we would love for you to experience our Chi Alpha family.
WHAT WE DO
Core Groups
A Core group is a group of friends who are devoted to living the way of Jesus together.
If you are interested in become a part of a Core Group, contact a staff member and they will direct you towards one of of our vibrant groups.
Encounter
One of the best ways to learn about Chi Alpha is to come to our main weekly large group meeting every Tuesday evening, which we call “Encounter.” We believe that when we come together and worship God, he shows up in a way that you can encounter Him. Encounter is informal, charged with music, full of truth, and allows you to experience a large community or family to belong to. We hope to see you there!
Encounter:
Tuesday nights @7:30pm
Location:
AJ 175
Prayer
Prayer is essential in our walk with God. It opens up opportunities for Him to move in our lives and in the lives around us. Gathering together in prayer enables us to seek the Lord as the body of Christ to pray as the Lord leads us in many areas relating to our campus, our city, and the world. Our students lead campus prayer walks and host prayer meetings throughout the school year. Contact a student leader or staff member for more details.
OUR PHILOSOPHY
The Three Anchors
Chi Alpha believes that community takes work and that we as people as well as our fellowship is at its best when we grow into the Three Anchors. We do everything we can to reflect these values.
Devotion: Spending time with God daily is essential to growing in your relationship with him. This includes making him a priority, finding ways to spend time with him,
Family: We have to be a community that values each others’ needs, does conflict well, stays in relationship with one another, even when it’s challenging. We need to do the hard work of building friendships and community that lasts.
Mission: There’s always room for someone else in our community, and it’s our responsibility for everyone to feel welcomed and appreciated. Our hearts should be burdened for others to know God and join our community.
Fivefold Ministry Approach
Chi Alpha works to introduce fellow collegians to an authentic relationship with Jesus Christ, and we believe that this is best accomplished through these five foci.
Prayer: Communication with God
Worship: Expressions of thanks through word, music, and service
Fellowship: Community of students developing quality relationships.
Discipleship: Learning about Jesus and following His example.
Mission: Living a life that reflects our relationship with God in what we say and do.
